I have Moxy 3 and Garmin Fenix 3 watch.

I am using Moxy data field and about 80% of the time
there's no connection between Moxy and the watch (data field).
I sometimes get the connection if I use Moxy Run app, but
when us Run app (or any other app) with Moxy as IQ field,
there's no data appearing on the watch.

This is extremely frustrating as it happens most of the time
when I try to use Moxy.

Is this Moxy or Garmin issue?

Hi Runner,

My Fenix 3 is very reliable with Moxy connections.

There have been a number of issues with the Garmin side of things.

First, make sure that you don't have a lot of ANT+ devices paired to the watch.  If you have more than a total of 4 sensors like Heart Rate, Power Meter, Cadence Sensor, etc, it will impact the connection reliablity.  This matters even if the sensors aren't currently in use.  You need to go into the Sensors Menu and delete any unused sensors.

You should make sure you have the latest copy of the Fenix 3 firmware too.  The last important revisions are probably more than a year old, but it's good to check that.

Also, make sure you have the latest versions of the data fields.  It's been a while since they've been updated, but that's worth checking too.

If the nature of the problem is that is just doesn't connect sometimes and other times it does, then it's more likely on the Garmin side.  If the nature of the problem is that the signal seems weak where it works when the sensor is close but not when it's more than a few feet away, then it could be either the Garmin or the Moxy.

Does the data field just sit there showing the sensor number when you try to connect or does it show something else?

Thanks for suggestions. I have latest updates for Garmin.

The only ANT sensor I have is a heart rate monitor.

Yes, in the running app for example, the data field is just sitting there, but not
showing any data.

I tried to switch to different apps (where I have set a Moxy field) and the problem
is there as well. But, sometimes whey I try Moxy Run app, the SmO2 data is showing
correctly. This would indicate that the Moxy is connected.

I'll keep trying.

A follow up on my own question. I found the culprit to this problem.

It appears that if you don't have much free storage memory left on the
watch, the watch starts having all sorts of problem.

After deleting old training sessions, the connection to Moxy was
back to normal.

Wow, Thanks for posting that solution.  I'll need to remember that one.
