Here's a couple of graphs that show how the SmO2 changes during warmup.  These were taken 2 days in a row.  Both days, I started on the stationary bike with no warm-up at all.  I did several moderate intervals in a row with the resistance level set at 8.  The SmO2 increased throughout the first three intervals even though I was doing the same amount of work.  I'm thinking that this is due to the HR increasing and vasodilation in the muscles in response to the exercise.
