Juerg/Roger, hi.

I've had some experiences the past few months with exercisers presenting with a thicker layer of adipose on thighs, and have seen the MOXY consistently report the SmO2 high 90%+, without much change at all regardless of loading. The tHb however changes consistent with the magnitude of load (+/-).

Is this because the NIRS unit is reporting the changes to HHB ???

1. check  with a fat calliper the layer if over 12mm you most likely  have no  good SmO2 reading anymore.
Fix the moxy on any other muscle like  calf  for example  or vastus medialis  and see  again.  Other wise  you have not  a good return on the  infrared  light  and the data's  are not  very usable. Juerg

Thanks, Juerg. After speaking w Roger, I did check the depth of fat fold which is quite a bit higher than 12 mm. Also saw improved readings from arm and calf.
